Course duration
The level 3 food hygiene online course takes approximately 8 – 10 hours to complete. Participants can take the course at their own pace, whenever or wherever it suits them.

1. Introduction to food safety
Understanding the importance of food safety and how it protects public health. Exploring key principles, such as food safety hazards, responsibilities, and the legal framework.
2. Microbiological hazards
Identifying the risks posed by microorganisms and implementing controls to prevent contamination. Examining how foodborne pathogens can cause illness and understanding their growth conditions.
3. Contamination hazards and controls
Learning about physical, chemical, and biological contamination, as well as effective prevention and control measures to maintain food safety.
4. Food poisoning and prevention
Understanding the causes and symptoms of food poisoning and how to prevent is. Examining the importance of food hygiene practices to mitigate risks.
5. Personal hygiene and training
Exploring the role of personal hygiene in food safety. Understanding training requirements to ensure all staff meet high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
6. Premises and equipment

Assessment
At the end of the Food Safety course there is a multiple-choice assessment to complete which consists of 45 questions. Participants must achieve a pass mark of 80% (36/45).
Certificate
On successful completion of the course participants will receive a Level 3 Food Safety Certificate.
