Aim of the course

1. Personal information – What constitutes personal information? Why is it dangerous in the wrong hands? Open-source intelligence.
2. Information handling – What is information handling? Classifying information, handling internal, restricted and confidential information, moving information between classifications, Information aggregation.
3. Social media protection – Trolls and disinformation, social media phishing, Personal v. organisational information, Privacy settings, social media policies, how criminals use social media.
4. Bring your own device (BYOD) – Bring your own device, keeping devices secure, The importance of up-to-date software, Acceptable use policies.
5. Backups – What are backups? What are they for? Backups in the home, Backups in the workplace.
6. Case studies – Some examples to show how these issues look in the real world.
7. Assessment
